Od spremljevalne zasedbe Linde Ronstadt do enega najve\u010djih bendov 1970 let so Eaglesi prehodili dolgo in ve\u010dkrat nehvale\u017eno pot, od oto\u017enih country-rockerjev do nekolikanj druga\u010dnih glasov v pesmih <em>Hotel California<\/em> in <em>The Long Run<\/em>. \u010ce dodobra pregledamo njihovo diskografijo, pa nedvomno obvelja ugotovitev, ki so jo zapisali v reviji Rolling Stone: Eaglesi so bili zasedba piscev pesmi, singerjev-songwriterjev, ki so to po\u010deli prete\u017eno (a ne vedno nujno) v slogu country-rocka sedemdesetih, morda manj rockovsko brezkompromisno kot Gram Parsons, a s precej ve\u010djo te\u017eo kot denimo John Denver.<\/p>\n<p>Eaglesi so prvi, klju\u010dni del svoje zgodbe zaklju\u010dili na za\u010detku osemdesetih in vsi \u010dlani so tako ali druga\u010de \u0161li po samostojnih poteh; Henley leta 1982 s prvo samostojno plo\u0161\u010do <em>I Can\u2019t Stand Still<\/em>, ki jo je zaklju\u010dil s reggaejevsko obarvano predelavo gospela <em>The Uncloudy Day<\/em>, leta 1984 pa je posnel uspe\u0161nico <em>The Boys Of Summer<\/em>, ki ga je s plo\u0161\u010do <em>Building The Perfect Beast<\/em> nekako osvobodila bremena \u010dlana Eaglesov in mu dala tudi solisti\u010dno komercialno prepoznavnost, nadaljeval jo je leta 1989 z uspe\u0161nico <em>The End Of The Innocence<\/em>. Leta 2000 je kratek niz solisti\u010dnih plo\u0161\u010d zaklju\u010dil z albumom <em>Inside Job<\/em> in se z novim studijskim albumom oglasil \u0161ele septembra lani.<\/p>\n<p>Album je naslovil po svojem najljub\u0161em delu Teksasa, pokrajini iz otro\u0161tva, in svoje teksa\u0161ke korenine tako ali druga\u010de priklicuje v novih pesmih. Zvok nove plo\u0161\u010de je torej nekak\u0161na teksa\u0161ka me\u0161anica, ki ne sili v tako imenovane \u201cnove nashvillske prijeme\u201d. Henley tudi no\u010de biti countryjevski za vsako ceno, pa\u010d pa je tu za \u0161\u010depec bluesa, denimo v pesmi <em>That Old Flame<\/em>, ki jo zapoje z Martino McBride, tam za \u0161\u010depec popa, denimo v baladi <em>Take A Picture Of This<\/em>, pa nekaj klasi\u010dnega countryja v uvodni <em>Bramble Rose<\/em>. Henley ponekod za trenutek spomni na \u0161timungo Lylea Lovetta, vendar zgolj za trenutek, denimo v baladi <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pk5m4DdGfIw\" target=\"_blank\">The Cost Of Living<\/a><\/em>, kjer se pojavi tudi Merle Haggard. Poleg njega in McBrideove na plo\u0161\u010di gostujejo \u0161e Dolly Parton v pesmi z repertoarja bratov Louvin <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hKld0YQPojc\" target=\"_blank\">When I Stop Dreaming<\/a><\/em>, Miranda Lambert in Mick Jagger (povezava med Stonesi, (Eaglesi) in Henleyjem ni tako zelo daljnose\u017ena, kot bi si kdo morda mislil) v \u017ee omenjeni uvodni pesmi <em>Bramble Rose<\/em> izpod peresa Tift Merritt, ene bolj cenjenih avtoric iz sicer vse bolj bledega predala \u201camericane\u201d, pa Trisha Yearwood v country-popovski baladi <em>Words Can Break Your Heart<\/em> in Lucinda Williams v pesmi <em>Train In The Distance<\/em>. Med priredbami sta na plo\u0161\u010di \u0161e<em> The Brand New Tennessee Waltz<\/em> Jesseja Winchesterja in Kincaidova <em>She Sang Hymns Out Of Tune<\/em> iz leta 1966, ki jo je med drugimi posnel tudi Harry Nilsson.<\/p>\n<p>Nova Henleyjeva plo\u0161\u010da ni prelomen dose\u017eek, tudi tako zanimiva kot denimo njegov solisti\u010dni prvenec ni, je pa vsekakor dobrodo\u0161la \u2013 sicer obelodanjena pred skoraj neskon\u010dnim nizom estradnih in manj estradnih odhodov ob koncu leta 2015 in na za\u010detku leta 2016 je s svojim klasi\u010dnim, countryjevsko obarvanim zvokom, ob nenadni Freyjevi smrti pa tudi ponoven opomnik na pomemben del zgodovine popularne glasbe.
