In \u010deprav lahko danes re\u010demo, da je Ruanda zazdravljena dr\u017eava z zavidljivo gospodarsko rastjo in vzponom turizma, so Abatwa, prvotni prebivalci Ruande (njihovi lovsko-nabiralni\u0161ki predniki so Ruando naselili pred nekaj deset tiso\u010d leti, medtem ko so se poljedelski Hutujci in \u017eivinorejski Tutsiji na to obmo\u010dje naselili pred nekaj sto leti) ostali pozabljeno, marginalizirano, uti\u0161ano, ogro\u017eeno ljudstvo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKot da se tam genocid ne bi nikoli kon\u010dal\u201d, je opazil producent Ian Brennan, ki je kot <em>Glitterbeatov<\/em> kurator serije <em>Hidden Musics<\/em> (Skrite muzike) potoval po nekak\u0161nih vladno reguliranih rezervatih, kjer so nastanjeni (pravi, da ga spominjajo na nekdanjo bedo severnoameri\u0161kih), ter snemal njihove uglasbene zgodbe vojne, bolezni, klimatskih in okoljskih te\u017eav, nasilja, depresije, a tudi upanja.<\/p>\n<p>A njihova muzika ni v skladu z zahodnja\u0161kimi percepcijami bukoli\u010dnega, d\u017eungelskega polifoni\u010dnega jodlanja Baka pigmejcev sosednjega Konga. Zvoke Abatwa odlikuje sijajen pejsa\u017e urbanizirane, sodobne afri\u0161ke godbe in inventiven instrumentarij (od tradicionalnih instrumentov kot so enostrunski lok <em>umuduli<\/em>, mbire, cimbale <em>iciembe<\/em> do prepariranih in recikliranih verzij teh ter akumulatorskih\/baterijskih luperjev), v katerem se kljub na videz preprostim glasbenim formam prepletajo kompleksnej\u0161e soni\u010dne strukture, v katerih med drugim spoznavamo, da je rap tudi med Abatwa priljubljen na\u010din artikulacije dru\u017ebene problematike.<\/p>\n<p>Kar pa sicer prepotrebnemu in \u010dudovitemu serialu Skritih muzik (tudi pri\u010dujo\u010demu plo\u0161\u010dku) manjka, je kontekst, v katerem bi se poslu\u0161alci lahko seznanili ne le s pri\u010devanjem avtorja kompilacije, ampak tudi z dejanskimi vsebinami zgodb, ki jih pojejo in godejo natur\u0161\u010diki, z njihovo osebno naracijo, ki bi plemenitila njihove presunljive glasove.
