Nato sem videl video za pesem <em>Avant Gardener<\/em> in bil kar hitro prepri\u010dan, da poslu\u0161am glasbo, ki \u0161teje. Seveda bi se ji en komad lahko posre\u010dil, pa sem se podal na kri\u017earjenje po spletu: najprej pregoltal Epje in nato \u0161e album <em>Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit <\/em>(2015). Nato se je o njej za\u010delo govoriti. Indiejevski fenomen iz Avstralije je pravzaprav v manj kot pol desetletja postal svetovni rockovski fenomen, in to brez \u00bbvelike\u00ab zalo\u017ebe, proslulih agencij in tako naprej. Lani je Barnett s Kurtom Vileom izdala LP <em>Lotta Sea Lice<\/em>, ki je vzbudil precej pozornosti in upravi\u010deno dobil visoke ocene, letos maja pa je sledila pri\u010dujo\u010da plo\u0161\u010da z uvodnim februarskim singlom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iQVvSdymxmQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nameless, Faceless<\/em><\/a>, aprilskim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CCnhdzAx3BY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>City Looks Pretty<\/em><\/a>, kon\u010dno pa tudi prilo\u017enost, da se o zadevi nekaj napi\u0161e.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbNeo-grungeovsko\u00ab vzdu\u0161je pesmi Courtney Barnett (na novi plo\u0161\u010di morda najbolj sli\u0161no v uvodni pesmi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QTqGV8EZx8M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Hopefulessness<\/em><\/a>) ni naklju\u010dno, ampak je bistveni del njenega avtorskega izraza \u017ee od samih za\u010detkov; \u010de kaj, ga na novi plo\u0161\u010di kve\u010djemu malce umirja, a ne v smeri konformizma ali kak\u0161nih ve\u010djih in dalj\u0161ih izletov v bolj radijski pop-rock, \u010de to dandanes sploh \u0161e obstaja, temve\u010d v smislu, da ji ni ve\u010d treba rohneti, ampak si lahko vzame \u010das za samoraziskovanje. Nekaj osebnih dvomov ostaja, a ti bodo ostali tudi \u010dez dvajset let, vendar pa nova plo\u0161\u010da izpri\u010duje, da je Courtney Barnett precej bolj jasno, kaj se dogaja z \u00bb\u017eivljenjem, vesoljem in sploh vsem\u00ab in da ji je novonastala situacija prinesla tudi nekaj izku\u0161enj in spoznanj. Med drugim to, da je poza \u00bbjezne, malce zmedene kitaristke\u00ab lahko dejansko zgolj poza, za katero misli\u0161, da jo mora\u0161 imeti, ker je del imid\u017ea, ampak seveda ni treba. Barnett je, \u010de gre soditi po intervjujih in javnih pojavljanjih, dejansko prijazen \u010dlovek, deluje odprto in pravzaprav \u0161e vedno nekoliko osuplo nad uspehom. Rezultati so morda manj neposredno konfrontacijski kot na prvencu (in po tem album bolj vle\u010de na pesmi s plo\u0161\u010de, ki sta jo ustvarila z Vileom), a Barnett je dokazala (\u010de ji je to sploh treba), da ni zgolj mlaj\u0161i avstralski okru\u0161ek Nirvane, pa\u010d pa da je \u00bbgara\u017eni\u00ab <em>feel<\/em> njene muzike koherenten del njenega glasbenega izraza, ne da bi se ob tem ona ali poslu\u0161alec po\u010dutila prisiljeno in neavtenti\u010dno. Nekateri se z zrelostjo ne znajo spopasti, Courtney Barnett pa se trudi. Trenutno s pomo\u010djo Fenderjevega Jaguarja, kar ji spet \u0161tejemo v plus.<\/p>\n<p>Na plo\u0161\u010di sodeluje jedro ekipe, ki jo spremlja \u017ee ves \u010das; producent Burke Reid pa zvesta glasbena dru\u0161\u010dina: Bones Sloan, Dave Mudie, Dan Luscombe. Poleg dveh \u017ee omenjenih singlov je pozornost vzbudila pesem <em>I&#8217;m Not Your Mother, I&#8217;m Not Your Bitch<\/em>, ki prina\u0161a neposredno, a ne nujno punkovsko besno zavedanje o medsebojnih odnosih, marve\u010d (naslovu navkljub) precej zrel pogled na, recimo temu, \u017ee nekaj \u010dasa trajajo\u010do skupno pot med poljubnima partnerjema, \u010deravno so nekateri pisci predvidljivo tuhtali o slogi med Courtney in njeno dolgoletno partnerko, avstralsko kantavtorico Jen Cloher. Obe sta priznali, da je nenaden Courtneyjin uspeh povzro\u010dil nekolikanj druga\u010dno \u00bbrazmerje sil\u00ab na profesionalni in nekaj tuhtanja na doma\u010di fronti, a Courtney se ni nikoli prito\u017eevala ali kako druga\u010de javno izra\u017eala dvomov v trdnost odnosa z Jen. O nekaterih pove\u010danih stopnjah samorazmi\u0161ljanja pa med drugim pri\u010da pesem <em>Crippling Self-Doubt And A General Lack Of Confidence<\/em>, ki jo Courtney Barnett uvede z besedami: \u00bbYeah they say whoever pays the piper calls the tune \/ well, let&#8217;s avoid the truth make you all feel special &#8230;\u00ab<\/p>\n<p>Kako smo \u017ee rekli? Upamo pa, da se protagonistka prika\u017ee tudi v na\u0161ih krajih, \u010deprav upam, da je, \u010de bi pri\u0161la, ne bi vtaknili v Cankarjev dom, kot so Rufusa Wainwrighta, ki tja prav tako ne sodi.
