Pisati o tem je intimno, razgalja, vendar ja \u2013 spominjam se nekega dela <em>Beavis &amp; Butthead<\/em>, ko sta mozoljasti \u017egoljavi prispodobi za na\u0161o generacijo mulcev komentirali nekak\u0161en spot z lutkami \u2026 Manjkal je bend. Kje je bend? Ujel sem MTV napis: TOOL, <em>Sober<\/em>. Orodje, budala. Trezno. Nek druga\u010den boben, rif, vokal patetike, kvazi-kromati\u010dna-progresiva, vse je bilo izven poznanega in tedaj \u017eve\u010denega. Zanimivo. V Rec-Recu, tedaj \u0161e pri Zmajskem mostu, sem poizvedoval, a sem dobil odgovor, da plate nimajo. In tako dvakrat. Tretji\u010d pa sem za dva jurja in pol kupil <em>Undertow<\/em> ter se ga kot ob\u010dasni DJ v \u010drnomaljskem MKK namenil predstaviti publiki. Skrajno neuspe\u0161no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pri \u0161estnajstih letih je bila ta glasba <em>in-your-face<\/em> \u0161us: zalet v steno, bole\u010dina, \u010dupanje, najstni\u0161ki norilda in norost. V\u0161e\u010dnih par \u00bbhitov\u00ab se je naglo umaknilo ostalim komadom, vsem se nam je zdelo, da ima ta bend nekaj za povedati, nekaj ve\u010d, neko pomembno sporo\u010dilo. Sledile so analize vsega in skoznje se je odkrivalo nam novo glasbeno estetiko. Careyevi ritmi\u010dni vzorci, D&#8217;amatovi in Jonesovi riffi so bili neka druga \u00bbfora\u00ab, nekak\u0161ne polomljene in dinami\u010dne sekvence, nobenih ego-eskapad na solo kitari, nepretenciozno, s skrajnim ob\u010dutkom. Glasbeno krajino je izpopolnil pateti\u010dni in dozdevno \u00bb\u0161ibki\u00ab vokal nad suvajo\u010dim rifom, basom in ritmom. Sli\u0161alo se je kot glas padlega, premaganega, ubogega, umaknjenega. Bil je Maynard pred \u00bbuspehom\u00ab, vinogradi, umetnostjo, kabalo, duhovnostjo, pred spiralami, pred Puscifer, pred vsem, zaradi \u010desar ga sedaj ne poslu\u0161am, ne gledam. Bil je Maynard, ki mi je imel nekaj za povedati. Njegova besedila sem dojemal kot nek izbruh skrajnega racionalizma in uni\u010dujo\u010dega nihilizma. Butala so v plasti\u010dno glavo najstnika bolj kot karkoli dotedaj sli\u0161anega. Ni bilo triumfalizma, pozerstva, ni bilo ega; \u0161e fotke benda ni bilo mogo\u010de najti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apostati je tak\u0161na plata kazala dokon\u010dni izhod, uni\u010dila vse argumente <em>za<\/em> in govorila <em>proti<\/em>, pa ne na nek v\u0161e\u010dno vulgarni, \u00bblako pro\u0111e\u00ab, debilni direktni na\u010din. Bistva se je dotaknila na nek \u00bblep\u00ab inteligenten, ne vsiljiv, le mestoma direkten in vulgaren na\u010din; ni le uni\u010devala stare etike ali zasmehovala moralo, ni ludisti\u010dno pozersko scala po vsemu brez <em>footnotea<\/em>. Ne. Keenan te je spomnil, da si smetje, verjame\u0161 v smetje in da bo\u0161 kon\u010dal kot smetje. Jebi se. Nisem sli\u0161al besedil o neki ljubezni, o hrepenenju, o generaciji, o \u017euru in \u00bbprovodu\u00ab, zadetosti, o nekem fuckoff uporu brez smisla, ravno obratno \u2013 teme so bile te\u017eke, osebne, kripti\u010dne, polne smisla \u2026 <em>cavern full of treasures noone has been to <\/em>&#8230; <em>4<sup>O<\/sup><\/em> je anus toplej\u0161i od vagine, je bil le eden od pomembnih podukov s te plate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Undertow <\/em>sem do\u017eivel kot kladivo preoblikovanja, plata, ki ji star \u0161estnajst let dopusti\u0161, da ti postavi nova merila, nov odnos, novo estetiko in do nekak\u0161ne mere nov smisel. Nov okvir. Nov nesmisel. Zavedno ali nezavedno, na repeat na ne\u0161tetih dija\u0161kih in nato \u0161tudentskih relacijah \u010crnomelj\u2013Ljubljana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seveda smo \u0161li Tool pogledat: Dunaj, 16. maj 2002.
