Kadarkoli sem se lotil sestavljanja tak\u0161nega seznama, sem zabredel, saj je bistveno ve\u010d zame pomembnih plo\u0161\u010d ostalo zunaj seznama. Povabilo Nove muske me je postavilo pred \u0161e bolj nemogo\u010d izziv \u2013 da izberem samo eno plo\u0161\u010do, kar pa nameravam najprej izkoristiti za to, da na\u0161tejem \u0161e devetnajst preostalih plo\u0161\u010d, ki so me vznemirile. Kot otrok pop-rocka osemdesetih let se bom osredoto\u010dil na obdobje do leta 1991, v katerem sem do\u017eivel polnoletnost na eni in dru\u017ebena vrenja na drugi strani. \u017dal mi je, ampak to preprosto moram narediti. Po abecedi gre takole: George Michael: <em>Listen Without Prejudice<\/em>, Jane&#8217;s Addiction: <em>Ritual de lo habitual<\/em>, Kate Bush: <em>Hound of Love<\/em>, Les N\u00e9gresses Vertes: <em>Mlah<\/em>, Pearl Jam: <em>Ten<\/em>, Pet Shop Boys: <em>Please<\/em>, Peter Gabriel: <em>So<\/em>, Pixies: <em>Doolittle<\/em>, Prince: <em>Parade<\/em>, R. Pa smo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tudi kasneje so pri\u0161le plo\u0161\u010de, ki so se trajno prijele, vseeno pa nekatere stvari ostajajo. Plo\u0161\u010da, h kateri se vrnem vsako leto na za\u010detku poletja, je <em>On The Beach<\/em> Chrisa Ree. Ob branju poziva mi je namre\u010d na pamet padla kot prva, sledil pa je vakuum. Vsaj kak\u0161no minuto se nisem mogel spomniti prav nobene druge plo\u0161\u010de. Kaj se je torej skrivalo v tisti minuti?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V najstni\u0161kih letih sem imel navado, da sem si vsak ve\u010der, ko sem se ulegel v posteljo, zavrtel eno stran kasete z mirnej\u0161o glasbo, ki bi me zazibala v spanec. Ko se je odvrtela do konca, je gumb glasno izsko\u010dil, ampak do takrat sem ponavadi \u017ee spal. Poleg kaset Andreasa Vollenweiderja, o katerem mi je ob neki prilo\u017enosti povedal did\u017eej iz diskote <em>Turist<\/em> Toma\u017e Pezdirc, sem si redno vrtel zasanjano \u00bbpla\u017eno plo\u0161\u010do\u00ab Chrisa Ree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Potem sem na pragu odraslosti hkrati do\u017eivel prelom \u0161tevilnih obljub iz mladosti: menjavo dr\u017eave, frontalni spopad z du\u0161evnimi te\u017eavami, ki so bile posledica tragi\u010dne prometne nesre\u010de in za zraven \u0161e neusli\u0161ano zaljubljenost, na katero \u010dlovek ni nikoli zares pripravljen. Turbulenca svetovnih razse\u017enosti. Hlastal sem po miru in po modrosti, s katero bi si pomagal, in tako sem v devetdesetih letih izstopil iz tirnic, ki sem si jih postavil poprej. V glasbi sem \u2013 namesto inovativnosti, druga\u010dnosti in divjine \u2013 za\u010del iskati eti\u010dnost, sr\u010dnost, vi\u0161ji smisel, smoter, in ja, tudi nekak\u0161no duhovnost. Mogo\u010de mi je ravno zaradi tega zadnja leta bolj pri srcu jazz, saj se z duhovnim soo\u010da veliko bolj neposredno kot pop-rock, in obenem svobodno, nedogmatsko. No, v tistih zahtevnih trenutkih sem si, verjetno povsem naklju\u010dno, enkrat spet zavrtel On the Beach, ki med albumi Chrisa Rea izrazito izstopa, in obnemel ob besedilih. Ve\u010dkrat sem se lotil poslu\u0161anja preostalih plo\u0161\u010d tega kitarista, vendar me \u2013 razen pesmi tu in pesmi tam \u2013 ni\u010d ni navdu\u0161ilo tako izrazito; preve\u010d neinventivnega ponavljanja. On the Beach je druga\u010dna. V opusu posameznih izvajalcev obsedeno i\u0161\u010dem izdelke, na katerih v soglasju zazvenita tehni\u010dna zrelost in sporo\u010dilnost. V\u010dasih se samo enkrat v karieri zgodi, da se oboje najde v pravem kre\u0161endu, ki je edinstven, jasno prepoznaven in katarzi\u010dno navdu\u0161ujo\u010d individualni izraz \u017eivljenjske volje, in Reeju se je to zgodilo prav tukaj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the Beach je sicer zvo\u010dno sladek album, ki mahoma odplakne hladne mesece, opravi pa tudi s pomladjo, toda tisto, kar na njem najbolj \u0161teje, so teksti. Naslovna pesem je v tem smislu \u0161e najbolj pogre\u0161ljiva.
